Lots of Activity this week!

Thursday, August 23, 2018

We were out on Sunday and spent almost the entire day there.  Well my husband was definitely out there 12+ hours but myself and the kiddos were only there for about 8.  The guys worked on getting all the under foundation plumbing.  The day ended with a satisfying and healthy dinner of ice cream.

On Tuesday, the inspector came out and passed our plumbing.

On Wednesday, Steve put down all the coil tubing for the heated floors and that inspection is scheduled for today, Thursday.

Friday he plans to pour concrete and we will have a slab to begin building.  He's spoken to our contractor and he's ready to come beginning of next week.

The shop is almost complete and probably will be done by Friday.  Craziness! I think we figured it out to be about 6 days total for them to put together that shop.  There's much more done than what I have pictured but I haven't been able to stop out this week much.  The second photo is the color of our steel roof for both the shop and the house

Well was started on Tuesday, finished on Wednesday! Its about 400 foot deep and approximately 8 gals/minute flow.  And we came in on budget! A big hooray

Permit approved, foundation done

Thursday, August 16, 2018

Permit approved finally on Tuesday, August 14th.  I say finally because there was a set back of a few days due to some human error in the office.  Otherwise known as an individual who couldn't operate a fax machine properly.

The shop building started to be constructed on Monday.

The foundation of the house began on Tuesday and has been completed as of today, Thursday.  Observe my high quality Snap Chat photo from the husband.

So much building related items, check lists that I have absolutely no idea about.  But my husband seems very pleased with the progress and that means I'll be happy about it too.

Closed!

This past week was a whirlwind.  I wish I had taken the time to sit down and record my thoughts, the emotions as it was happening but I couldn't spare the mental space to type it out.

So let's rewind, as of Monday, July 30th we had no notice as to when we would close.  I spoke with both our Loan Officer and our Mortgage Officer and neither one could give me an answer.  At this point we were waiting on the 3rd revision to our appraisal.  There had been speculation from our Loan Officer that we could, should close on the 31st but that did not happen.

Instead there was MORE running around for paperwork that we had previously submitted.  More running to get signatures we had already got but somehow were not on file with the bank.

On Wednesday, my girlfriend and I took a quick road trip to a neighboring state fair to one of our favorite duos perform, Brother Osborne! It was an absolute blast and well worth the quick getaway in the middle of the work week.

Thursday at breakfast I FINALLY got the call we had all been waiting on.  We were clear to close and scheduling the closing for Friday.  I asked for morning time slot to accommodate the sellers schedule and got in at 11am.  Not exactly what we were hoping for, but it would do.  Frustrations continued right up until the very end of our adventure with the loan process though.  We needed a certified check for our closing costs.  And as of 8am on Friday, still did not have the final dollar amount to even have the check processed by our bank.  Thankfully our Loan Officer was able to call me a little after 9 with that information and my husband took off to the bank.  We managed to get the certified check, meeting the sellers locally and were able to get to the closing a little early even.

Immediately after closing we headed to the PA Code Alliance office to file for our building permit.  Where we were told that we were the most prepared packet of information the office admin had seen yet.  I can't say the same for her methods.  While there she mixed up our papers twice.  Attempted to send a fax, it didn't go through so she just shut the fax machine off.  It would have been amusing if it wasn't yet another delay in a long string of delays we've dealt with thus far.

Celebratory milkshakes were most definitely enjoyed!

On Saturday, August 4th Steve went back out to the property with his band of misfits again and rolled the pads, straightened out the house foundation, set markers etc.
