This past week was a whirlwind. I wish I had taken the time to sit down and record my thoughts, the emotions as it was happening but I couldn't spare the mental space to type it out.
So let's rewind, as of Monday, July 30th we had no notice as to when we would close. I spoke with both our Loan Officer and our Mortgage Officer and neither one could give me an answer. At this point we were waiting on the 3rd revision to our appraisal. There had been speculation from our Loan Officer that we could, should close on the 31st but that did not happen.
Instead there was MORE running around for paperwork that we had previously submitted. More running to get signatures we had already got but somehow were not on file with the bank.
On Wednesday, my girlfriend and I took a quick road trip to a neighboring state fair to one of our favorite duos perform, Brother Osborne! It was an absolute blast and well worth the quick getaway in the middle of the work week.
Thursday at breakfast I FINALLY got the call we had all been waiting on. We were clear to close and scheduling the closing for Friday. I asked for morning time slot to accommodate the sellers schedule and got in at 11am. Not exactly what we were hoping for, but it would do. Frustrations continued right up until the very end of our adventure with the loan process though. We needed a certified check for our closing costs. And as of 8am on Friday, still did not have the final dollar amount to even have the check processed by our bank. Thankfully our Loan Officer was able to call me a little after 9 with that information and my husband took off to the bank. We managed to get the certified check, meeting the sellers locally and were able to get to the closing a little early even.
Immediately after closing we headed to the PA Code Alliance office to file for our building permit. Where we were told that we were the most prepared packet of information the office admin had seen yet. I can't say the same for her methods. While there she mixed up our papers twice. Attempted to send a fax, it didn't go through so she just shut the fax machine off. It would have been amusing if it wasn't yet another delay in a long string of delays we've dealt with thus far.
Celebratory milkshakes were most definitely enjoyed!
On Saturday, August 4th Steve went back out to the property with his band of misfits again and rolled the pads, straightened out the house foundation, set markers etc.
